The important stuff, in plain language
Event Rental Terms & Conditions
Life happens. Plans change, people get sick, and emergencies rarely arrive on schedule. Please tell us as early as you can. A Slice of G is a small business run by a real person, and we will do our best to help you find another available date when possible. These terms explain what we can promise and what we cannot.
Respect, equity, diversity & inclusion
Our celebrations are for people, not just photographs. Everyone deserves dignity and a welcoming experience regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, nationality, age, disability, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or family structure. You do not have to fit anybody else’s idea of “normal” to be welcome.
Zero tolerance for hate speech, discriminatory slurs, threats, intimidation, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexual harassment, unwanted touching, bullying or violence. This applies to clients, guests, staff, contractors, vendors and venue personnel. Our team is held to the same expectation.
If anyone threatens or seriously harasses our staff or contractors, we may stop service immediately, remove our team to safety and, when safe, arrange equipment collection. Serious misconduct does not require a warning. When a less serious issue can safely be resolved, we may give the organizer a chance to address it.
Where we terminate service due to serious violence, threats or harassment by the client or people attending their event, payments for the affected services are non-refundable to the extent permitted by law. Unused staffed-service hours are included when our team must leave for safety. A refundable equipment security deposit is not automatically forfeited: it remains subject only to documented rental damage or loss and authorized deductions. We may contact security or emergency services when appropriate.
If anyone representing A Slice of G mistreats you, please email order@asliceofg.com. Respect goes both ways.
Accessibility & accommodations
I have made my best efforts to make A Slice of G events, rentals, displays and services accessible and welcoming. I also know that accessibility is not one-size-fits-all.
If there is anything I can do to improve accessibility at your event, please contact me without hesitation. You never need to apologize for requesting an accommodation.
We can discuss cart placement and serving height, clear paths for mobility devices, accessible communication, sensory considerations, service animals and support persons, and alternative ways for guests to receive treats. We will work with you to find reasonable arrangements where feasible.
Some features, including entrances, elevators, washrooms and venue access, are controlled by the venue rather than us. We cannot promise an unrelated venue is accessible, but we will coordinate our installation with you and the venue.
Please reach out as early as possible, but do still contact us if a need comes up later. Feedback about barriers on our website or at an event is welcome at order@asliceofg.com.
Nut-free commitment & dietary information
A Slice of G guarantees our own products are nut-free. This commitment matters personally: I live with a serious nut allergy myself. Our recipes do not intentionally use nuts or nut-derived ingredients, and our ingredient sourcing and food preparation must support this commitment.
Our standard recipes contain wheat/gluten, eggs and dairy. Some products can be made gluten-free by advance request. Gluten-free options are not included by default; contact us for availability and pricing. We will discuss any relevant cross-contact considerations before confirming a special dietary order.
For other allergies, intolerances or dietary needs, please ask before ordering. We will review ingredients and tell you if we cannot safely accommodate a request. The nut-free guarantee applies to products made by A Slice of G, not food supplied by another vendor or brought by guests.
Event treats are individually wrapped. Ice cream sandwiches need suitable freezer access or an agreed safe cold-storage and service plan. Staffed service is not automatically required if a host can manage the safe holding and serving arrangement; confirm arrangements with us before booking.
Booking & payments
The listed items and package inclusions, quantities, event date, location and any delivery surcharge appear in your checkout summary. Choosing a date does not hold inventory. Availability is checked before payment; the booking is confirmed after a successful 50% booking payment and written confirmation.
The 50% booking deposit goes toward your total price. The balance is due seven calendar days before the reserved event date or earlier delivery window disclosed in the confirmation. Bookings within seven days may require payment in full. Any applicable taxes and eligible $50 extended-GTA delivery charge are disclosed at checkout. No hidden package fees.
Delivery, setup, takedown and collection are included in the displayed rental prices for eligible Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Pickering and Ajax postal codes. Eligible Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and surrounding GTA postal codes add $50 once per booking. Locations outside our supported postal-code zones require advance agreement.
The cart is an event-day rental for up to eight consecutive on-site event hours. Delivery/setup is arranged before the agreed event start; takedown/collection afterward, subject to venue access. Photo Moment Displays are also available as standalone rentals for up to eight event hours unless your confirmation specifies otherwise. Two-hour and four-hour staffed service cover continuous guest-facing hours, not the entire cart rental window. Extra staffed time costs $75 per attendant per hour only when arranged in advance; extended cart rental hours require separate approval.
Cancellations, changes & rescheduling
We understand that plans change. Please contact us immediately so we can explore options. The following is our proposed standard schedule, subject to any non-waivable consumer rights and the specific agreement accepted when booking.
- 14 or more days before the event: the 50% booking deposit is non-refundable; booking payments above that deposit are refunded.
- More than 48 hours but fewer than 14 days: the booking deposit is non-refundable; 50% of booking payments above that deposit are refunded.
- 48 hours or less before the event: no refund of booking payments, except where required by law.
A refundable security deposit is different from the booking deposit. If an event is cancelled before our equipment has been delivered or installed, any collected security deposit is fully refunded, regardless of the booking-payment cancellation window.
We will make a reasonable effort to transfer a booking to one alternative available date within 12 months when contacted more than 48 hours beforehand. Transfers depend on availability, products already prepared and unavoidable committed costs. For last-minute emergencies, please still get in touch: we will discuss what we can realistically do without guaranteeing a transfer.
If A Slice of G cannot deliver the booked service and cannot provide an acceptable alternative, payments for the affected services will be refunded. Applicable statutory rights always prevail.
Refundable equipment security deposit
Security deposits protect against missing or damaged rental equipment. They are separate from the 50% booking deposit, and the applicable tier is disclosed before payment. Our current tiers are:
| Booking total | Refundable security deposit |
|---|---|
| Under $500 | $0 |
| $500–$1,499.99 | $50 |
| $1,500–$2,999.99 | $100 |
| $3,000–$4,999.99 | $150 |
| $5,000–$7,499.99 | $200 |
| $7,500–$9,999.99 | $250 |
| $10,000+ | $300 |
The security deposit, where applicable, is due 48 hours before the reserved delivery window. It is fully refundable after collection and inspection if all items are returned without damage or loss beyond ordinary wear. A Slice of G aims to process the refund within five business days of inspection; banks or card providers can take longer to post it.
Any proposed deduction will be explained with an itemized, reasonable repair or replacement cost and supporting photographs where available. A security deposit is never automatically lost just because an event is cancelled.
Equipment, venue access & customization
The client must provide accurate venue details, appropriate loading access, and safe space for our equipment. Our staff install and dismantle the rental pieces; please do not climb on, move, modify, expose to avoidable weather or unplug installed displays without permission. Tell us promptly if something is damaged or appears unsafe. We may adjust an unsafe outdoor installation or work with you on an indoor alternative.
Eligible custom display wording and floral colour choices are included wherever stated in the product details. Please provide exact spelling and preferences by the agreed production deadline. Larger changes outside the displayed inclusions need separate approval and disclosed pricing. We will discuss substantial material substitutions when possible.
Photographs, payment information & legal rights
We respect private celebrations. We will ask permission before using identifiable guests or private-event images for marketing. You can request no promotional photos of your setup.
Payments are processed through approved providers; we do not publish payment or personal details. Ontario and Canadian law apply, and these terms do not remove rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived. The terms shown when you book govern your booking unless you agree to a lawful change.
Please contact us. We're a small business run by a real person, and we'd rather have a conversation than leave you guessing.
